    The Theory of OPD
    • What is OPD?:

      One Piece Destiny, or OPD, is a sort of roleplaying game. Players sign up, design a character, and are inserted into an One Piece-esque world (in the form of a unit map) where they can either be a Pirate or a Marine (or anything in between) and generally run around killing other players.

      It's a very basic concept and idea overall. Players can fight with one another, recruit fighters, form alliances, go on quests, win tournaments, storm prisons, and of course, search for One Piece.

      Players submit their actions to the Game Master who will then post them in a daily writeup, outlining all of the major player actions of that phase.

      The games generally have a lot of flexibility in the actions, and players are allowed to be as creative as they wan't provided it is logical. It's generally a good idea to follow common sense.

    • How Do I Sign Up?:

      Just write your OPB name next to any variant of "I wish to play".



    • What is this Game?:

      You are going to be allowed a great deal of freedom in this game. So expect the unexpected, crazy, sick and hilarious things to happen. Also fails, lots of fails.

      You will be playing on a 40 island strong, hex grid map.

      If there are any questions regarding the game do not hesitate to ask me, or any other experienced player around, but bother the host first and then Nekomamushi because he's asking for it.

    • How Does Fighting Work?:

      Your character will be given certain stats. They depend on your starting race, class, and level. Each stat gives you a certain advantage in combat.

      Stamina: Your health is calculated from this. When it hits zero, you get knocked out. If it hits the negative value of your health, you die.
      Strength: Your physical damage is calculated from it. The more you have it, the more your punches, kicks, cuts, grapples will hurt.
      Intelligence: Your special damage is calculated from it. Certain devil fruit abilities, ranged weapons, and other witchcraft gets stronger.
      Speed: Increases the amount of your action points. The more you have, the more techniques you can use in battle. If after your turn you have left over action points you can pay them to dodge any incoming attacks that cost that much or less.
      Charisma: Increases success of certain actions out of combat, such as haggling and recruiting. It also has something to do with Haki...

      Going first is determined by the move you are using, generally weaker moves hit before stronger moves, but there are counters, interrupts, assists etc.

      Besides the choice of class that determines most of your moves, you can also pick a skill, such as Medicine or Music, that can help you out in battle. There are other skills, such as navigation, that can help you out on the map.

      Additionally you can opt to have a devil fruit. There are four rarities of devil fruits.

      Common - These are found when you trip in tall grass. They may seem useless, but if you invest into them enough they can become quite strong. Most regular paramecia and some unimpressive zoans fit here.
      Rare - Can find them hidden in dangerous places. Gives you a great boost as soon as you get them, and a lot of possibilities for improvement. Most Zoans can be found here as well as initially weaker logias and stronger paramecias.
      Epic - You can find these at the end of epic quests. These give you a lot of power and flexibility. Includes the trickiest of paramecia, Zoans with special abilities and most logia.
      Legendary - GG hax. There are very few of these hidden in the world. You better be able to control the power they give you.

      If you choose to have a devil fruit at the start of the game you will be given one at random. 80% chance of receiving a common one and 20% chance of getting a rare. If you want stronger fruit, you will have to find them! Beware though, as much power as they give you, they tend to carry a weakness with them as well.

    Character Race

    Ultimately, I want this choice to not mean much in the end. So that people can pick whichever race they want and not worry too much about min-maxing stats. The loss of racial traits (Fishman water effectiveness, Mink's Electro) may hurt immersion, but it helps the gameplay not devolve into "Are you a Fishman? No? Well then you lose!". You get certain stat distribution depending on race and some free points to put wherever you want.

    • Human - Humans are boring and uninteresting.
      • Stamina - 10
      • Strength - 10
      • Speed - 10
      • Intelligence - 10
      • Charisma - 10

    Character Classes

    This is the main thing that determines your way of fighting. Each class can fulfill several roles. And each class can be enhanced by a devil fruit, and other "special" fighting styles which you can learn later on in the game (Rokushiki, Life Return, Haki etc.)

    The more you use your fighting style the more proficient you become in it, and more moves you'll learn. You can only carry 6 moves in battle, but you can switch the active moves as you please. Every 5 levels you can create your own move which will be appropriately balanced by yours truly (so no 1 AP instant kill moves that happen in preturn, kay?)

    • Fighter - They have a lot of possible moveset variations. Use a lot of kicking moves and eventually you will develop Blackleg Style. Use a lot of punching moves, and you may develop Fishman Karate.
      • Strength: An all around balanced class that can evolve in almost any direction
      • Weakness: Generally low attack range
      • Example moves:
        • Kiryu Kirikugi (15AP) - Close range headbutt that deals (INT) damage and bypasses any shields the target may have
        • Anti-Manner Kick Course (15AP) - Close range kick that deals (2xSTR) damage to a target and launches them into the air.
        • Gosenmaigawara Seiken (20AP) - A medium ranged attack that deals (INT+STR) damage to everyone in an area in front of the user.
        • Steel Heart (10AP) - Block all STR based damage of next attack.


    • Swordsman - This class uses swords and other melee weapons. It excels at dealing damage and redirecting enemy fire (WPN=Damage gained from the weapon)
      • Strength: Medium range, strong damage, lot of counters.
      • Weakness: Reliant on having good hardware
      • Example moves:
        • Shishi Sonson (10AP) - Medium range attack that always hits first (provided you are in range), dealing (0.5xSTR+WPN) damage
        • Yahazu Giri (15AP) - An unblockable attack that hits first, but deals it's (0.5xSTR+WPN) damage at the end of the turn.
        • Sanjuroku Pound Ho (36AP) - A long range attack that launches a cutting projectile at it's target. Deals (STR+INT+WPN) damage
        • Nigiri (20AP) - Prepares to counter any damage that comes from either left or right. Deals half of the damage you'd otherwise receive if successful. Requires 2 weapons.

    • Marksman - Masters of hitting people from afar. Their long range means they will usually hit people sooner rather than later.
      • Strength: Long range damage dealer.
      • Weakness: Moveset determined by the weapon type.
      • Example moves:
        • Flaming Shot (20AP) - Bow, Slingshot, Artillery move. Deals 2xINT damage and ignites the target dealing additional 0.3xINT damage next turn.
        • Piercing Shot (15AP) - Bow, Gun move. Deals 1.5INT damage to all targets in a line.
        • Rapid Fire (10AP) - Gun move. Deals 0.2xINT damage five times. You can hit different targets.
        • Not the face! (15AP) - Artillery move. Use your large weapon to block one attack, but lower the damage of your next attack by 50%


    • Wrestler - A tough, close range disabler. (I wish i followed some wrestling so i can name these moves appropriately T-T)
      • Strength: Can interrupt enemy attacks
      • Weakness: Has no range. Needs to be able to take a lot of punishment. Deals almost exclusively STR damage.
      • Example moves:
        • Hold Up (20AP) - Grabs an enemy and holds them for the rest of turn if your STR is larger than theirs. Breaks when you take damage.
        • Atomic Buster (20AP) - Grabs an enemy, throws them into the air, and smashes them into the ground for (STR+STA) damage
        • Get Down! (20AP) - Jumps in front of an ally and take a hit meant for them. If the attacker is in range, attack them for free with a move that costs 20 or less.
        • Intimidating Flex (5AP) - Flex your muscles in front of an enemy, lowering their damage by 10%

    • Cyborg - A hybrid support class that's good at dealing damage and assisting allies.
      • Strength: Has a ton of utility.
      • Weakness: Bit weak on damage.
      • Example moves:
        • Nipple lights (15AP) - Medium range. Blinds the enemy, making them 20% likely to miss medium range attacks and 50% likely to miss long range attacks. Cannot be used twice on the same target
        • Force field (30AP) - Medium range. Shields a target for 0.2xSTA
        • Strong Right (15AP) - Medium Range. Deals STR damage to a target
        • Nuke! (100%AP) - Charges for a turn to launch a nuke at a target next turn that deals 5xINT damage to a target and everything else in a large area around it. Any damage will interrupt the charge and the launch.




    Character Skills

    These are side buffs that somehow affect your team. Characters can only have one skill.

    • Captain - Technically not a skill, since every team needs to have one and it doesn't count towards skill limit, but mechanicaly works the same. Adds 5 stamina and allows the use of Conqueror's Haki once you meet the requirements for it.
    • Navigator - Lets you move one hex more per turn on the map.
    • Cook - Increases the stamina of everyone in team by one.
    • Doctor - Can heal people in it's range during preturn.
    • Musician - Increases the speed of everyone in team by one.
    • Archaeologist - Increases the chance to find hidden treasure while searching the island.

    You will tell me all about your character's customization when you get a faction. DF included.

    Fighting style remains the same. You just get extra moves, strengths and weaknesses with a devil fruit. DF's may also have practical uses on the map depending on their type.
