I agree, some have taken perspectives which symbolises dark and light contrast. Thank you, I can see what you mean. Really good on the members that made these pictures.

Because of Overhaul's reply I looked again, and I have to agree with you – I really love simplicity in photographs, and #1 does an amazing job in showing its beauty therein.

Ok, time to vote and hopefully bring some more last minute votes with the bump.
It was a toss up between #4 and #5 for me.
5 captures the essence of somberness. Grey skies, rain puddles, solitary monument (which happens to be the umbrellas!) and a lone fisherman all come together to make one perfectly somber mood.
But number 4 took the cake for me. The mysticism of that image just resonates with me. The tunnel is dark, damp and narrow, with walls covered in graffiti, and a lone man walks out of it into the light. It's just a perfect composition that tells a story of a journey by itself.
